Youper has shut down. Where to go next.
Youper stopped working on 30 September 2026. What to move to depends on which part of it you actually used — the mood tracking, the CBT exercises, or the conversation.
Youper wound down its business and the app stopped working on 30 September 2026. Subscriptions were disabled ahead of it, and there was a window to export your data before it was deleted. If you have only just discovered this because the app stopped opening, that window has closed — which is worth saying plainly rather than leaving you to find out.
Which part of Youper did you actually use?
This is the question that determines the answer, and it is the one the listicles skip. Youper did three fairly different things and most people used one of them.
If it was the mood tracking
Go to Daylio. It is deliberately simple, has no AI, and has survived while most of this category has not — which, after what just happened, is a feature rather than a dull fact. It does the logging-and-charts job as well as anything and will not try to be your therapist.
Do not come to us for this. Brihas is not a mood tracker — there is a daily check-in, but that is not the product, and if charts are what you want you will find it the wrong shape.
If it was the CBT exercises
Go to Wysa. It is the most clinically researched option still generally available and it walks you through recognised CBT and DBT techniques rather than just conversing — which is the closest match to Youper's structured side. It is on iOS, Android and web and is actively maintained.
One thing to know: Woebot is no longer an option, even though several 2026 “best app” lists still recommend it. Its consumer app was retired in June 2025 and access now runs through partner organisations. If a comparison page recommends it to you, that page has not been checked.
If it was the conversation
This is where Brihas fits, and it is worth being specific about why rather than just asserting it.
The common complaint about Youper's conversational side — and about most of this category — is that it started from nothing every time. You would explain the situation, get something useful, come back a week later and explain the same situation again. Over months that is exhausting, and it is the opposite of what you want from something you are using to understand yourself.
Brihas is built around continuity. It remembers what you said, it notices when something you have mentioned three times is a pattern, and it builds a reading of how you are navigating across six dimensions that moves as you do. It also understands Hindi and Hinglish, which almost nothing in this category does.
Where it is the wrong choice: if you want guided clinical exercises, Wysa is better and more researched. If you want a permanently free app, the first messages and your first reading are free and every plan after that is paid. If what you need is treatment, none of these is the answer.

What the shutdown is worth taking from it
Two things, and the second is the one that matters.
Export your data from whatever you use next, periodically. Youper gave notice and a window, which is more than some. The lesson is not about Youper; it is that a free or cheap consumer mental-health app is a business, and businesses in this category have been closing. If a history matters to you, keep a copy somewhere that does not depend on one company.
And if the app was carrying something an app should not carry, notice that. Some people are reading this because a tool they relied on disappeared and it genuinely destabilised something. That is worth taking seriously rather than solving by downloading a replacement. It is a reasonable moment to talk to a doctor or a therapist — not because using an app was wrong, but because what you have just learned about how much it was holding is real information.
If what you miss is the conversation — and specifically not having to re-explain your life each time — that is the thing Brihas is built for. The first messages and your first reading are free, with no card.
