Wysa alternatives, and when Wysa is still the right answer

Wysa is the most clinically researched app in this category and it is not right for everything. What it is genuinely best at, where it runs out, and what to use instead.

Most pages answering this query are affiliate listicles that rank Wysa fourth and something you have never heard of first. This one is written by a competitor, which you should factor in — so it starts with the cases where Wysa wins, because those are real and because a comparison in which the author wins every row is not a comparison.

What Wysa is genuinely best at

  • The research base. It is the most clinically studied conversational tool in general release, and that is not marketing — it is the reason clinicians and health systems will discuss it at all. Nothing else on this page can say the same, Brihas included.
  • Structured protocols. If what you need is a guided sequence for anxiety or low mood — CBT techniques, DBT skills, mindfulness, delivered in order — that is what it is built for and it does it well.
  • A free tier that is actually useful. Not a trial. You can use it without paying, which matters more than most comparisons admit.
  • Human escalation. Paid tiers add a real coach. That is a genuine bridge toward care and Brihas offers nothing equivalent.
  • It is Indian-built — Touchkin eServices, Bengaluru. Worth saying because several listicles frame it as a Western product and it is not.

Where people tell us it runs out

Not faults — consequences of being a structured, protocol-led tool. The same design that makes it good at the above makes it weaker at these.

  • It works on symptoms, not situations. An exercise for anxiety is useful. It does not help with “do I take the promotion if it means moving my parents”, because that is not a symptom and no protocol fits it.
  • Continuity is thin. It remembers that you use it. It does not notice that the thing you described in March is the thing you are describing again now, which is the observation most people actually want.
  • It is English-first. For a lot of Indian users the sentence that matters arrives code-switched, and translating it preserves the words while losing the register.
  • The structure can feel like a form. Several people describe a point, usually weeks in, where the exercises start to feel like being processed rather than heard.

If you are looking because something is missing

  1. “The exercises help but nothing changes.” Usually a sign the problem is a situation rather than a symptom — exercises make a hard thing more bearable without touching what makes it hard. That is the gap Brihas is for.
  2. “It doesn't remember me.” The honest fix is a tool with a longitudinal view, not a better chatbot. Continuity is an architectural property, not a conversation-quality one.
  3. “It feels like a form.” Protocol-led tools feel that way eventually by design. Open conversation does not, and in exchange it is less reliable at delivering a specific technique.
  4. “I want to talk in Hinglish.” No English-first tool fixes this with a translation layer. See the India comparison, which also covers Ira by Rumik.
  5. “I need more than an app.” Then it is a clinician, and Wysa's coach tiers are a more honest step toward that than switching to us.

If what you need is to think something through rather than practise a technique — privately, with something that remembers — that is the specific thing Brihas does.

Wysa alternatives: common questions

Is Wysa shutting down?
No. As of 12 October 2026 Wysa is operating normally. You may be thinking of Woebot, whose consumer app was retired on 30 June 2025, or Youper, which shut down on 30 September 2026 — both are still recommended by several page-one “best of 2026” listicles.
What is the best Wysa alternative?
It depends on what is missing. If you want structured, evidence-based exercises for anxiety or low mood, nothing beats Wysa and switching is likely a downgrade. If you want to think through a situation or decision with something that remembers across months, that is Brihas. If you want a companion to talk to daily, that is a different category again — Ira or Replika. If you want treatment, it is a clinician rather than any app.
Is Wysa free?
There is a genuinely usable free tier, not just a trial. Premium is around $74.99 a year, or roughly ₹499 a month on Indian pricing, with tiers above that including a human coach. Checked 12 October 2026 — pricing in this category changes, so confirm on their own site.
Is Wysa an Indian app?
Yes — built by Touchkin eServices in Bengaluru. Several comparison articles describe it as a Western app, which is wrong. We mention it because our differentiation from Wysa is Hinglish support and continuity, not nationality.
Wysa vs Brihas — what is the actual difference?
Category, more than quality. Wysa is a structured symptom-management tool: guided CBT and DBT exercises, strong research behind them, optional human coaching. Brihas is a thinking partner: open conversation about situations and decisions, with a reading of you that builds across months, in English, Hindi or Hinglish. If your problem has a protocol, Wysa. If your problem is a situation, us.
Can I use Wysa and Brihas together?
Yes, and for a fair number of people that is the right answer — they overlap less than the category implies. A guided anxiety programme and a place to think through a decision are different jobs, and we would rather say so than argue you should cancel something that is working for you.

Brihas is a structured reflection tool, not a medical or diagnostic service. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, please reach a helpline or a clinician.
